My Approach/ How I work

Clinically, I work within a humanistic framework and my style and approach is client-centered, warm, relaxed, psycho-dynamic, existential, self-empowering, and insight-oriented. I blend practical, effective tools with an intuitive, spiritual approach to my work. I firmly believe that great therapy involves a collaboration between Therapist and Client. I enjoy assisting clients in fostering the ability to access and reconnect with their inner wisdom, capacity for change, dreams, and happiness. Therapy is a beautiful combination of art and science that strives to motivate a strong connection with one’s true Self, encourage responsible living, practice vital life skills, develop greater life goals, and discover the real life rewards that naturally come from healthier choices and positive sustainable change. Since no two healing pathways are the same, my post-graduate clinical interests have allowed me to fulfill a long-standing passion by participating in 3-tiered levels of advanced clinical training to master the skills in becoming a fully trained Internal Family Systems Therapist (IFS-T). IFS or “Parts Therapy” is a powerful modality developed by Dr. Richard Schwartz, and is designed to help resolve inner conflicts by discovering, navigating through, and integrating multi-dimensional parts of a person resulting in balanced-wholeness and harmony. IFS is my preferred therapy approach, however, I also subscribe to and gravitate towards other modalities including Somatic-Experiencing (SE), Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Adlerian Studies, Gestalt Therapy, and Choice-driven modalities for Addiction such as the Life Process Program; all of these approaches have informed and influenced various aspects of my clinical work.

MY SPECIALTIES: WHO DO I TREAT?

The driving force of my work is to help others experience self-transformation and getting the results they want. I have several years of experience providing supportive, professional care to persons struggling with a variety of issues, including but not limited to the following: depressive mood disorders; anxiety/panic disorders; obsessive-compulsive disorders; oppositional defiant disorders; PTSD; chronic fatigue/pain; trauma/abuse; domestic violence; stress/anger management; peer-relationships; bullying/suicide prevention; spiritual discernment and growth; life transitions (e.g. career, divorce, loss); relationship difficulties including co-dependency; sexuality and identity; poor self-worth; work/life balance issues; all chemical and behavioral forms of addiction or impulse control disorders (i.e. drugs, sex, violence, relationships, self-harm, compulsive gambling and spending, Internet/technology, food, and eating disorders). I also have devoted the last few years to studying (in depth) compassion fatigue, especially for helping professionals and the risks associated with it. I believe, despite how you may feel at this very moment, that mental health struggles can provide the force needed to help activate necessary life changes. As a Therapist, it is a privilege to work with clients in their journey towards Self and in finding a desirable life pathway of positive goals, passion and purpose. I look forward to meeting with you!
